John Pomp Studios

“The intertwining of the four classical elements—fire, water, earth and air—is a constant source of inspiration to the design and philosophies of John Pomp. Be it a ripple on the ocean or the swelling of a bubble, his sculptural pieces mimic the wondrous geometry that exists, often unnoticed, in the natural world.”

Junior Designer

As a Junior Designer at John Pomp Studios, I work with a design team on product development of boutique furniture and lighting. This comprehensive process includes ideation through sketching, rendering, hand-modeling at reduced and full scale, parametric 3D CAD Modeling, 3D printing, and material research/experiments. Guided by passionate craftspeople and innovative engineers, we then refine and realize our concepts from electrical and/or mechanical engineering standpoints. This involves prototyping pieces at full fidelity, after building out model and drawing sets to be used for our in-house manufacturing and assembly—and eventually by our salespeople as well. This full immersion into all aspects of the design process has been a unique and enriching experience, especially considering that I get to participate in a range of projects, each at their own stage of development.

While currently all of the product development work I have done for John Pomp Studios is protected under a non-disclosure agreement, please visit the website to see our available collections, and eventually our new work as well:

In addition to my responsibilities as a designer, my role has grown to include producing content for the studio’s website, marketing platforms, and press releases. Product photography, compositing, videography, and all manner of documentary work have become a significant part of of my role at John Pomp Studios. Building on a strong foundation of experience in prior roles, I produce high-quality imagery of finished pieces, and also document the daily roles of the skilled artists and craftspeople spanning glassblowing, coldworking, welding/metalwork, patination, assembly, and more. One of the most important digital platforms for bringing in business is John’s Instagram feed, for which I was tasked with producing, editing, and curating content.
